Grouses from the urban jungle

My money is fast depleting, god knows what I have spent my money on. Somehow I wished I had spent that money handing out to kids living in a life filled with drudgery in Mozambique, Chad, Sierra Leone, Ethiopia, Malawi, etc(sorry, Tourism Geography lesson is kicking in). I won’t feel guilty that way.

'Life in Mono' aptly describes the lifestyle I have adopted since I got back. Waking up past 4pm, sleeping past 6am and going out on every single day. Quest for internship didn't fall through as both the companies I applied for did not want to hire someone who can only work for less than 3mths.So the boxed space in my 'Things-to-do-in-Singapore' list remains unticked for 'GET A BLARDY JOB'. (It’s ticked for 'BUMMING ON MY ASS' though; yes I am contradicting, I know)

I still hate the crowd that packs the streets everyday!! I wish I have some superpower that clears the crowd 5m radius away from me. I am not asking much, just 5 metres!!! It is blardy hot here, thus give me the breathing space and a perspire-free day. I will stop winching and grumbling then.

So my dear friends, till that day arrives, you can warrant me an arrest should I cease complaining... urrghh!!!

back in the sunny island

and so i'm back.
to this scorhing heat
with beads of perspiration flowing off my face
my armpits in constant need of deodorant
the need to clammer up to my hole
as the crowds throngs past.
the crowds..the crowds..

Got my ass back in this sunny and oh-so-crowded-i-need-to-jostle-with-them-crowd island on 25th of nov. Surprised my family and friends as no one knows I was coming back.

Been off to simpang bedok, sipping in the air (albeit a tad polluted) surrounding it, for 4 nights in a row since I got back on day 1. Its been good to meet up with friends that i have left, knowing that they are still the same-old-same-old kakis that i still have.

But now I’m back, somehow, something inside me yearns to get back to Brisbane again. To escape the crowd that herds every time I turn left and right. To escape the sweltering heat which never fail to test my patience. To return to the graciousness of Aussies, an attribute lack in Singapore no matter how much the govt calls for a gracious society.

It turns me off every time I take the public transport, people rushing in once the door open trying to clamber aboard with hopes of a seat. People who can't blardy mouth the word thank you when u open the door for them. Retail staff who stands ard even though it's apparent you are in need of help, etc.

Oh come on Rahman! You’ve been away for only 10mths!! Oh so they say. Weirdly enough that 10mths seems eons as i soon forgot how scorching the sun can get, how queer our society is and how Singapore is now infested with run-out-of-the-mills mats, minahs, bengs and lians. I do not discriminate them (ok maybe a lil) but I’m put off at how young they are.

But most importantly, I think I want to go back and finish my degree as soon as possible. For someone who once owns his own disposable income, im now on a guilt trip; relying on my mom to sustain my daily living. I’m all of 25 afterall. Heading towards the late 20s come Feb 6 (yes ppl, i am shamelessly advertising). Its high time i provide my mom with the dough.

Oh a brighter note, I did quite well for my last semester. So the mugger proved his point!!..haha
